Zienalabdin (Zain) Alkatrib

Zain Alkatrib is a junior majoring in Biology (Pre-Med) with a minor in Psychology. Originally from Charleston, West Virginia, he is expected to graduate in December 2026. Zain is currently conducting research that studies stress and stroke using mouse models. His work primarily focuses on stress-exposed mice, seeing how stress influences brain circuits and inhibitory synapses, particularly in connection to neurodevelopmental disorders. 

Beyond his academic and research commitments, he enjoys playing soccer, bowling, and traveling. Zain is also bilingual (Arabic and English). Looking ahead, Zain wants to pursue a career in medicine as a physician, where he hopes to combine clinical care with neuroscience research.
