Biochemistry

Bryan Ho
Advisor: Dr. Blake Mertz

Meet Bryan:

"Failure is a part of success. Take risks and learn from your mistakes and failures. That is what research is about."

Hometown: Martinsburg, WV

Interest and Hobbies: Cars and credit cards

Fun Fact: I'm a sucker for Nicholas Sparks movies.

Research Area: Bryan's research is focused on the platelet-activating factor receptor (PAFR), a receptor responsible for the inflammatory response in many respiratory diseases. His goal is to identify the structure-function relationship of PAFR to identify antagonists that can suppress the inflammatory response. To do this, he is performing molecular docking simulations and molecular dynamics simulations to define common characteristics of the receptor and identify potential ligand candidates.
