Editorial Review Board Applications

Throughout February and part of March, the Mountaineer Undergraduate Research Review (MURR), is recruiting new members for its Fall 2023-Spring 2024 Editorial Review Board. Undergraduate students with research experience can apply to positions including 1) Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (HASS) Reviewer, 2) STEM Reviewer, 3) Design Editor, 4) HASS Head Section Editor, 5) STEM Head Section Editor, and 6) Managing Editor

Position Descriptions

  1. Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (HASS) Reviewer - Expected to attend Editorial Review Board (ERB) Meetings, advertise opportunities with MURR to WVU students and faculty, and review HASS-related articles for publication consideration with MURR Volume 9
  2. STEM Reviewer - Expected to attend Editorial Review Board (ERB) Meetings, advertise opportunities with MURR to WVU students and faculty, and review STEM-related articles for publication consideration with MURR Volume 9
  3. Design Editor - Expected to attend Leadership Meetings, advertise opportunities with MURR to WVU students and faculty, design elements of the publication, create advertisement flyers, and run social media
  4. Head Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (HASS) Section Editor - Leads HASS Section Editors. Expected to attend Leadership and Editorial Review Board (ERB) Meetings, advertise MURR opportunities to WVU students and faculty, distribute HASS-related articles to editors and reviewers, and correspond with authors
  5. Head STEM Section Editor - Leads STEM Section Editors. Expected to attend Leadership and Editorial Review Board (ERB) Meetings, advertise MURR opportunities to WVU students and faculty, distribute STEM-related articles to editors and reviewers, and correspond with authors
  6. Managing Editor - Supervises the day-to-day operations of the publication. Expected to attend Leadership and Editorial Review Board (ERB) Meetings, facilitate ERB meetings, communicate with faculty, schedule workshops for the ERB, facilitate journal review process, and perform quality control on each article in each review stage

Application Requirements

You are eligible to apply for the MURR Editorial Review Board if: 

  1. You are an undergraduate student not graduating before May of 2024
  2. You are involved in undergraduate research

To submit your application, you will need: 

  1. Fields of study
  2. Potential availability during the Fall 2023 semester
  3. Updated and edited resume or CV
  4. Description of your experiences that might be helpful in the process of producing MURR
  5. Description of any previous involvement with the WVU Office of Undergraduate Research Programming (i.e. participation in the RAP program or presentation at the Spring Symposium)
  6. Preferences for the positions mentioned above
  7. Any additional information that you feel is relevant (optional)
