Sustainable Chemistry REU at Texas A&M

The NSF-funded Research Experience for Undergraduate Program in Sustainable Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry at Texas A&M University is now accepting applications for the summer 2021.

In the Sustainable Chemistry REU at TAMU, students become full members of a graduate research group, carrying out fundamental research on interdisciplinary projects that span the chemical sciences. Students will participate in a sustainable chemistry workshop and professional development focused on science communication. Students will produce a video describing their research. Participants in the Chemistry REU will interact with students in other undergraduate research programs across campus and will receive personal mentoring from faculty, graduate students, and industrial chemists.

The tentative dates for the program are June 1 - August 6, 2021, though exact dates and program format are subject to change depending on pandemic conditions.

Students will receive a stipend of $5000; free housing; one credit of a research course; and a travel and meal allowance.

Competitive students will have completed at least two semesters of college chemistry, majoring in chemistry or related field, with a GPA of 3.0 or better and strong letters of recommendation. The program is most beneficial for students intending to pursue graduate school. For more information on the program, see https://www.chem.tamu.edu/reu/.
