Applications are now open for mentors/RAs for the 2022 Governor’s STEM Institute at WVU to occur over the summer. Application deadline is May 10th, 2022. 

Mentors/RAs are responsible for supervising the middle school-age students at GSI. During the day, mentors will be paired with a faculty member to assist with classroom and research projects and after class time will be required to supervise daily and evening activities. Mentors act as chaperones on field trips and as resident assistants in the evenings.

Congratulations to the category winners and runners-up from WVU's 6th annual Spring Undergraduate Research Symposium. Thank you to all of our presenters for allowing us to return to an interactive, in-person format! 

The Society for Standards Professionals established in 2017 a Scholarship Program to support students who study standards in their academic curriculum. We know that each new generation of students holds the potential for helping us achieve our mission to increase awareness and the use of standards. 

Students may be interested in applying for the 2022 SES Student Scholarship. This award is for up to $1,000 for students who study standards in their undergraduate or graduate programs. Applications for the 2022 SES Student Scholarship are open through April 24th, 2022.

Four West Virginia University faculty members, one postdoctoral fellow and one graduate student were recently named recipients of 2022 Awards of Distinction in Mentoring Undergraduates in Research.  

Sponsored by the Office of Undergraduate Research and the Office of the Provost, the award serves to recognize and reward faculty and graduate students who encourage and support undergraduates in making an original intellectual or creative contribution to their discipline.
