2021 Spring Health Careers Opportunity Program Applications Open

The HCOP (Health Careers Opportunity Program), a sister program to HSTA, is now open for college students.  This is a paid opportunity for students getting ready for professional school that includes a free Kaplan prep test.

The program has two key components.  The first is a one-week campus portion that includes small group meetings with deans in Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy etc. on how to successfully apply for and be a success in health professional school.  During this week students also receive coaching on their personal statements and interview skills.  Best of all for the 5-day campus portion students receive a $90 a day stipend for attending.  Then they are provided with a free self-paced Kaplan prep. course for their chosen health field. Although the campus portion takes place at WVU, students do not need to be WVU students.

Eligible students must be US citizens and WV residents.  Criteria to be accepted is just like HSTA, rural students, African American, financially disadvantaged, or first-generation students. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, HCOP will be all online this year. Need more information? Read over our flyer and watch our informational video.
