Join the Research Apprenticeship Program: Gain Research Experience this Fall

The Office of Undergraduate Research is recruiting undergraduate students of all majors for the Fall 2023 cohort of the Research Apprenticeship Program

The Research Apprenticeship Program (RAP) is a two-semester program that allows students with limited or no research experience to gain course credit and use federal work-study funds for undergraduate research apprenticeships with WVU research faculty. Research Apprentices are introduced to research through a research assignment with a WVU faculty member.

Climate Internships for Fall 2023

Citizens’ Climate Lobby/Citizens’ Climate Education (CCL). CCL is a national nonprofit organization that builds grassroots support for climate legislation.

CCL is currently recruiting students and recent graduates to join our team as interns or fellows. CCL has opportunities with a variety of different departments that may appeal to students across many disciplines. These experiences provide valuable work experience, networking opportunities, and may include academic or financial benefits. You can learn more about our current openings on our website. A Shared Responsibility: Ensuring Fertile Ground for First-Gen College Student Success

the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission and West Virginia Community & Technical College System’s Division of Student Affairs is sponsoring a virtual professional development event titled “A Shared Responsibility: Ensuring Fertile Ground for First-Gen College Student Success” led by Dr. Sonja Ardoin, which will take place on Thursday, May 25, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. This event is free and open to interested staff, faculty, and administration from West Virginia’s public and independent institutions of higher education. Please feel free to share this information with any colleagues on your campus who may be interested in participating. Registration will be open through 5/24 or until event capacity is reached.

An Invitation to Submit Manuscripts for a Special Issue of Merrill-Palmer Quarterly: A Journal of Developmental Psychology: “Supporting the Next Generation of Developmental Scientists”
 
Attention: Research Mentors for Undergraduate Honors Theses
 
Merrill-Palmer Quarterly: A Journal of Developmental Psychology is hosting one or more special issues featuring high-quality, empirical honor theses completed by undergraduate students under the mentorship of faculty researchers. The issue’s purpose is to promote and recognize the next generation of developmental scientists. 
 
Eligibility is limited to reports of empirical research and higher priority will be given to submissions that address substantive topics that are consistent with the journal’s mission and focus. 
 
Merrill-Palmer Quarterly's mission is to serve as a primary source of new research studies in child and adolescent development. The purview of Merrill-Palmer Quarterly encompasses theory and research on child and adolescent social/emotional/psychological development and emphasizes the journal's historical commitment to the study of development in context (e.g., relationships, families, schools, neighborhoods, peers, media, etc.).
 
Students and mentors who wish to have their manuscripts considered for this special issue should upload their submissions to the article portal at digitalcommons.wayne.edu/mpq/. Submissions will be accepted beginning April 15, 2023, and undergo peer review. Submission deadline is September 1, 2023.
 
Student/scholar authors needing publication within a limited timeline for the purpose of meeting graduation and/or other class requirements: because of the cyclical nature of periodic journals, a specific hastened future publication date cannot be offered nor guaranteed and relying on this is advised against.
