Announcing 2023 Summer paid research internship opportunities for undergraduate STEM students

The Office of Science / US Department of Energy is pleased to announce paid research internship opportunities for undergraduate students majoring in areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) for the Summer of 2023. The application system for the 2023 Summer Term Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships (SULI) program is currently open, with all applications due by 05:00 PM Eastern Time on January 10, 2023.

The Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships (SULI) program places students from 2 and 4 year undergraduate institutions as paid interns in science and engineering research activities at DOE national laboratories and facilities, working with laboratory staff scientists and engineers on projects related to ongoing research programs. Appointments are for 10 weeks during the Summer term, are open to US Citizens and US Lawful Permanent Residents, include a weekly stipend, reimbursement for one round trip domestic travel to the participant’s host DOE laboratory, and possibilities for a housing allowance. More than 850 internships are sponsored annually.

Help Wanted: Social Media Marketing FWS Student Worker

The Office of Undergraduate Research (UGR) is seeking a student to work with the UGR program coordinator to promote undergraduate research opportunities at WVU.  

The student will be expected to assist UGR to sustain and grow social media accounts including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and WVU Engage in accordance with WVU social media guidelines. Tasks may include related advertising channels including releasing a biweekly newsletter through MailChimp. Competitive applicants will have prior training or equivalent experience in managing social media accounts and graphic design. Familiarity with UGR and its affiliated programs is a plus.

Abstract Writing Workshop WorldCUR-BCUR 2023

Ahead of the WorldCUR-BCUR 2023 abstract submission closure on Wednesday 16th of November 2022 @ 12noon UTC, the organizing committee would like to announce Abstract Writing Workshops to assist with abstract construction. 

Abstract Writing Workshops for WorldCUR-BCUR 2023 will be held on Microsoft Teams.

Sustainable Development Internship

The Center for Resilient Communities is currently accepting applications for its fourth annual Sustainable Development Internship hosted in collaboration with the Department of Geology and Geography. The internship is made possible through a generous partnership with The One Foundation. 

The Sustainable Development Internship is designed for undergraduate students who wish to cultivate their leadership and community-based research capacities to contribute to transformative social change in Appalachia. The Sustainable Development Internship provides undergraduate students a space to build confidence and capacity in their search for creative solutions to local and global problems.

Mountaineer Undergraduate Research Review is Accepting Article and Cover Art Submissions

WVU's student-led undergraduate research journal, the Mountaineer Undergraduate Research Review (MURR), is accepting original research papers, literature reviews, policy briefs, and cover art submissions for MURR, Volume 8, with publication anticipated in spring 2023. 

Articles and cover art will be accepted for Volume 8 through November 30th, 2022. Submissions can be made through the MURR webpage.

Most recently, the Editorial Review Board published MURR, Volume 7 in spring 2022. The full volume of faculty- and peer-reviewed articles is housed on the Research Repository @ WVU website, alongside all previous editions of the journal.
