It’s never too early to get started. At NASA, you have the opportunity to work and
explore careers while still in school. NASA offers several internship opportunities
that provide unique NASA-related experiences while contributing to the operation
of a NASA facility and the advancement of NASA's missions. The
Pathways Program provides current students with paid work experience and
recent graduates with a dynamic career development program at the beginning of
their careers. Both offer the chance for permanent employment at the agency.
NASA’s
STEM Engagement Internship Program offers internship, fellowship
and scholarship opportunities for high school, undergraduate and graduate students
as well as educators.

The NASA West Virginia Space Grant Consortium provides fellowships for undergraduate students who desire a career in STEM and are interested in working on a research project that is related to a NASA mission directorate under the supervision of a faculty member.
This is an opportunity for students to become engaged in NASA’s future and become a NASA Space Grant Scholar. Students are encouraged to submit research proposals that are STEM-related and help support NASA in reaching greater heights.
The Mountaineer Undergraduate Research Review (MURR), WVU's student-led undergraduate research journal, is currently seeking undergraduate research articles and cover art for MURR, Volume 6, Issue 2. See details below on regarding each opportunity. Online publication is anticipated by November 2021.
Overview: The aim of this project is to better understand first-generation college students' reasons for or against studying abroad. The project will involve creating a questionnaire to be administered to first-generation students about their views on study abroad and then doing some follow-up interviews with a sample of them. One goal is to gather ideas about potential interventions that would encourage more first-generation students to participate in a study abroad program during their time at WVU.
Benefits: This position would involve reading some academic studies that focus on ways of encouraging underrepresented groups (including first-generation students) to participate in study abroad. Undergraduate researchers will also learn about online questionnaire design and interviewing techniques. Additionally, the researchers will learn how to analyze these sources of data using quantitative and qualitative methods. This research can be undertaken on a volunteer basis. This research experience may lead to continued involvement in research into the spring 2022 semester via a WVU research program (e.g., the Research Apprenticeship Program) or a faculty supported (i.e., paid) position.
