Students encouraged to submit Campus Read projects for online publication, recognition

The WVU Humanities Center and WVU Libraries are inviting all undergraduate students to be part of Campus Read’s story this academic year by submitting their creative projects or scholarly works to be considered for public display in the inaugural Journal of the Campus Read.

Girl Who Smiles Beads Cover

Faculty and instructors may encourage their students to apply during the fall semester by submitting their class assignments, theses, capstones or independently conducted scholarship pieces, as long as they engage in humanistic inquiry and address issues or themes raised in “The Girl Who Smiled Beads,” the 2020-2021 Campus Read.

Projects can take a variety of forms, including essays, visual art, audio recordings (such as music or podcasts), poetry and creative writing and video. Students of all disciplines and majors are encouraged to submit their work. Collaborative and interdisciplinary projects are also welcome.

Authors of accepted works will have the opportunity to come together to present and discuss their scholarship in mid-April. More details will be provided in the spring.

The first issue of the Journal of the Campus Read will be published online prior to the end of the Spring 2021 semester and will remain archived to help document students’ Campus Read participation for years to come.

Learn more about Campus Read submission guidelines.

Students must complete this online submission form by Dec. 4.
