If you are interested in running for a position, or want a say in who is elected to help run the Undergraduate Research Association this year, please come to next meeting.

The following positions are available to run for:

  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Recruitment/Social Media Chair

 

What to Do:

Please contact ura.wvu@gmail.com by/before Monday (September 19) if you'd be interested in running for a position. 

If you can make it to the election meeting on Tuesday (the 20th), please be prepared to give a brief speech on why you'd like to run for that position and what makes you a good candidate.

If you cannot make it to the election meeting on Tuesday (the 20th), please send URA an email containing a brief speech on why you'd like to run for that position and what makes you a good candidate. A current officer will read this for you at the meeting.


Descriptions of Positions:

Secretary: 

The Secretary's main role is to take notes on things discussed during the meeting and add them to the meeting agenda. That meeting agenda was prepared by me and then sent to our Secretary. Additionally, the Secretary is responsible for getting our meetings and events on email lists that circulate throughout the university (like Honors Weekly emails and the Office of Undergraduate Research newsletter).

Treasurer:
The Treasurer is responsible for maintaining the organization's funds, and that's pretty much it. There's some additional writing in the club's Constitution saying that the Treasurer is the account manager, but we don't yet have a bank account, so that doesn't mean a whole lot right now. If a bank account were to be created, then the Treasurer would be in charge of managing that as well. Treasurers are additionally responsible for writing SGA grants and proposing said grants at SGA meetings. 

Recruitment (Social Media) Chair:
The Recruitment Chair is the most specific, and also the newest, created almost exactly two years ago. Their overarching job is to spread awareness of the club, and our recruitment chair has done an excellent job of doing that by creating flyers, and posting on our social media accounts. So, this position is like a Social Media Chair that you may have seen in other clubs.
