HOSA - Future Health Professionals Chapter at WVU:  Is seeking new members! HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) is an international organization that unites aspiring healthcare professionals. Unlike clubs such as Pre-Med and Pre-Pharmacy (which are great organizations) that are geared toward a specific profession, HOSA is inclusive of all health professions from dentistry to nursing to veterinary sciences. HOSA provides students with many scholarship and internship opportunities in various aspects of the healthcare field. HOSA also has over 70 competitions that students can participate in at regional, state, and international levels! 

So far we have hosted one general meeting with the members who have already joined and with their suggestions, we have many plans for the chapter. We will be setting up group chats and zoom sessions for people in the same classes so everyone can study with each other, hosting events to practice for the competitions of choice, recruiting speakers from various fields to provide information to our members, and so much more. If there is something you want us to do, then let us know and we will do our best to make it happen! If you would like to join, please go to our WVUENGAGE page and request a membership. 1) NSF’s Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) supports outstanding graduate students who are pursuing full-time research-based master's and doctoral degrees in STEM fields.

When do I Apply? Typically, students apply in the senior year of undergraduate and/or in their first year of graduate school. Full proposal deadline Oct. 19-22, 2020 (according to discipline). 

The Office of Undergraduate Research will be facilitating a discussion on how to get started in research and find a faculty research mentor. Research opportunities are open to students in any discipline (e.g., STEM, humanities, arts, and social sciences) willing to make an original, intellectual, or creative contribution to their field. 

Join the MURR Journal Editorial Review Board

Mountaineer Undergraduate Research Review (MURR), WVU's student-led undergrad research journal, is currently seeking undergrads with experience in research, writing and editing, or student leadership to join its 2020-2021 editorial review board. MURR is WVU's student-led undergraduate research journal. Current vacancies: Head STEM Section Editor, Humanities, Arts, & Social Sciences Reviewers, and Design Editor. Students have an opportunity to elevate academic discourse at student level, learn about scholarly communication and skill development from faculty, and advance WVU's research enterprise. Interested students can submit an interest form here and will hear from a MURR representative by October 16.

Undergraduate Research Workshop Schedule 2020-2021

Fall Semester

The WVU Humanities Center and WVU Libraries are inviting all undergraduate students to be part of Campus Read’s story this academic year by submitting their creative projects or scholarly works to be considered for public display in the inaugural Journal of the Campus Read.

Faculty and instructors may encourage their students to apply during the fall semester by submitting their class assignments, theses, capstones or independently conducted scholarship pieces, as long as they engage in humanistic inquiry and address issues or themes raised in “The Girl Who Smiled Beads,” the 2020-2021 Campus Read. 

UReCA: The NCHC Journal of Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity is a multidisciplinary Web journal sponsored by the National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC). Our mission is to curate relevant, progressive and academic content that appeals to undergraduate students in the United States and abroad. We are seeking works from undergraduate students who are engaged in relevant and intriguing research.
