Undergraduates are encouraged to apply to engage in scholarly activity (research/creative work) via the Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) program. The deadline for students to submit an application is March 1, 2024, 11:59 pm.

SURE is a PAID ($5,000 stipend) undergraduate research experience for students interested in pursuing research/creative work within their discipline or a related discipline and who plan on attending graduate school. 2024 SURE program dates are May 28-July 26, 2024.
New to SURE this year:
- SURE awards increased to $5,000 this year!
- SURE will support up to 60 students across all disciplines at WVU. Students in the arts, humanities, social sciences, and STEM are all encouraged to apply.
- The NSF-funded KY-WV LSAMP Alliance provides funding to support additional undergraduate STEM majors in SURE who are also (i) underrepresented persons (e.g., Hispanic, African-American) and (ii) U.S. citizens/permanents residents of U.S. or its territories. WVU students who fit these demographics are encouraged to apply to SURE.
Notes:
- Due to funding limitations, participation in the funded portion of WVU SURE may be limited to one time per undergraduate.
